The winter holiday season is upon us once again, and I hope it provides us all with the opportunity to relax, rest, and reflect.

This is my final post of the year, and I’d like to thank everyone who takes the time to read this blog, whether you pop by every week, once a month, or once a year. Your support, comments, and feedback are always much appreciated.

I leave you with Franz Liszt’s Christmas Tree Suite, a delightful collection of 12 pieces inspired by Christmas carols and songs. Written between 1873 and 1876 for the composer’s granddaughter Daniela von Bülow, the work was revised in 1881. ‘Old Christmas Song’ is the first piece in the set and was originally a choral work composed by Michael Praetorius (1571 – 1621); it’s played here as a piano duet.
