Schott Student Edition
Elementary Level

The Schott Student Edition is a series of study aids for those with the desire to discover new repertoire. Each volume focuses on music by one composer and these editions are intended to highlight the work of women composers.
Mel-Bonis, or Mélanie Bonis, was a French late-Romantic composer. This volume, Album pour les tout-petits, or Album for Little Ones, contains 20 short piano works, perfect for students of elementary or around Grade 1 – 2 level.
There is a substantial biography about the composer in every volume as well as performance or teaching notes for each piece. Notes are printed in both English and German.
A selection of these volumes were recently shortlisted for ‘Best Classical Piano Repertoire Series’ at The Art of Piano Education Awards 2024 and 2025.

Spanish – Catalonian composer Narcisa Freixas has written a charming collection of elementary works. These works are suitable for pianists of around Grade 1 – 2 level. The two books are entitled, Piano Infantil 1 and Piano Infantil 2, or Children’s Piano Books 1 and 2.
All notes are printed in both English and German.
Intermediate Level

This second volume of works by Spanish composer Narcisa Freixas is at a slightly more advanced level than the first. It highlights dances and character pieces. These pieces brim with traditional Catalan inflections. They offer attractive melodies and are well worth exploring, and they make excellent additions to the repertoire. Suitable for students from Grade 3 – 7 level.

Children’s Album and Children’s Carnival are two noted collections. They were written for intermediate level pianists by American composer Amy Beach. The pieces are around Grade 3 – 7 level.

This second volume, Scènes enfantines Op. 92, or Scenes from Childhood, contains a collection of eight pieces suitable for intermediate to late-intermediate level pieces and would therefore be beneficial for students of around Grade 4 – 6 level.
