Melanie enjoys writing music for friends and colleagues, and her work is published in the Edition Schott Composer Series. She also writes educational music for students.
Recent performances of her works have taken place in venues such as the Shiga Bank Piano Festival, a Livestream concert held at the Watsuki Hall (both in Kyoto), and a Chamber Music Series at Toppan Hall in Tokyo, Japan. In Europe, Melanie’s music was showcased at the Montecatini International Piano Festival in Italy, as part of Piano Week in the UK, and it has featured in a festival held at the Kolarac Hall in Belgrade, Serbia.
Her music has been recorded on various record labels including Quartz and Orchid Classics. Compositions have also been recorded for Steinway & Sons and broadcast live on Radio-Berograd and RTS (Serbian National Television) in Serbia.
Melanie is one of ten selected female composers in Pianist Magazine’s 10 Women Composers You Have To Know. Her piano music is included in several digital anthologies published by Pianist Magazine. She is currently writing an elementary piano music series for Pianist, contributing a new piece in every issue.
During 2026, the Chakra Suite for clarinet and piano, written in 2020, was published by Clifton Edition and a short choral piece, Hope Is The Thing for SATB, was performed at Trinity College Chapel in Cambridge as part of a CAM (Celebrating Australian Music) and Trinity College Music Society programme, conducted by Augustine Cox.
Whilst Melanie mainly writes music for the piano and instrumental combinations, she has also written for chamber orchestra as well as various chamber music ensembles and vocal music. Listen to the music by clicking on the links below.
Gratitude
Written for the London Myriad Ensemble as part of their ‘remote recordings’ project for the lockdown period during the COVID-19.
Vortex
A one-movement piece for strings and piano. Written for the Solomon Piano Quintet and performed in 2020 in Tokyo, Japan.
Trance
For piano, violin & ‘cello. First performed in July 2019, by dedicatees Warren Mailley-Smith, Harriet McKenzie, & Tim Lowe at St. James Church, Piccadilly, as part of the Piccadilly Chamber Music Series.
Chakra Suite

Heiwa (Peace)
‘Heiwa’ was written in 2020 for pianist Aisa Ijiri. The piece was adapted and arranged for Aisa and the AUN J Classic Orchestra as part of their 2023 European Tour.
Hope Is The Thing (Text: Emily Dickinson)
A short choral work for SATB written in 2020 for a semi-professional choir, it received it’s first performance in February 2026 at Trinity College Chapel, Cambridge.
