Guildhall Young Artists Online – Pathways To Conservatoire Programme – BMus 2
Since September 2023, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London has offered an innovative new course for students. This advanced two-year online course is aimed at international musicians who are interested in studying for a degree at the Guildhall School. This course has proved popular and Guildhall are now seeking applications from prospective students for September 2024.
Those who are of post Grade 8 level or equivalent (UK diploma level) in their chosen discipline will follow the first year of Guildhall School’s BMus programme online. Applications are welcome from all international students studying outside of the UK.
Upon completion, and dependent on a successful audition for the BMus programme, students will be eligible for direct entry onto Year 2 of the four-year Guildhall School BMus degree course. Although focused on fast tracking students onto Guildhall’s BMus programme, the course content will prepare students for higher education study at any UK conservatoire.
This course will cover all the academic elements of the first year BMus course taught over two years in a weekly class from a senior Guildhall academic professor. In addition, students will follow a supporting studies course looking at history and analysis of music in a broader cultural context.
Students can continue one-to-one lessons with their current teacher privately, but will be assigned a personal instrumental mentor who is a member of the senior Guildhall faculty in their instrumental or vocal specialism. This mentor will provide regular online instrumental “check ins” to help prepare for the senior school entrance audition. However, should a student require an instrumental teacher for regular lessons this can be arranged separately via GYA Online one-to-one teaching.
A personal welfare tutor from the GYA Online team will be allocated to every student with a termly review to ensure students’ progress, and sessions will be provided for students to find out more about support provided for international students studying on the BMus course.
Students undertaking this course will become part of the GYA international community and are invited to participate in cross network events and competitions.
All students on the course will be given an audition for Guildhall’s BMus programme in the second year of this online course. The audition fee will be included in the course fee.
If this course is of interest to you or your students, you can find out more and apply online, here.
The closing date for applications is August 16th 2024.
