Lucky Charms For Piano and Harp

Lucky Charms is a collection of 21 elementary piano pieces. Published by 80 Days Publishing, the collection consists of works from preparatory (or pre-Grade 1) to approximately Grade 2 standard of the British exam board syllabus levels. Many of the pieces were previously written for Pianist Magazine, for whom I write an elementary piano piece in every issue. However, ten pieces from the selection were written especially for this book.

Lucky Charms has also been arranged for the harp, a selection of which are published in two separate volumes. This is the first time I have written for the harp – a favourite instrument of mine – and I’m incredibly grateful to harpist Keziah Thomas who has arranged, annotated, and edited the pieces: 12 pieces for harpists using no pedals at all, and 9 pieces in another volume for pedal and lever harp. Keziah introduces some of the pieces in the following short film:

80 Days Publishing is owned by renowned composer Christopher Norton and Andrew Jones, and this company has gone from strength to strength over the past few years since its formation in 2017. I have also published several volumes of piano duets and trios (Snapchats) with 80 Days Publishing, which have proved popular with teachers and students.

Lucky Charms represents many different styles of music from dreamy romantic, atmospheric, reflective numbers to upbeat, lively pieces, and jazzy tunes. You can listen to all 21 pieces by clicking on the playlist below, where they have been recorded by Chenyin Li (Pianist Magazine’s resident pianist), Japanese pianist Yuki Negishi, and myself. The pieces are printed in alphabetical order:
