Weekend Competition: The Lang Lang Piano Method

20160408_091418_resized

It’s Friday and time for a Weekend Competition. There has been much excitement surrounding the launch of The Lang Lang Piano Method, which was published just last month by Faber Music. The Chinese concert pianist has achieved rock star status, especially in the Far East, and is dedicated to helping budding young pianists develop and learn in the best possible way.

The Lang Lang Piano Academy was launched, in conjunction with Faber Music, a couple of years ago, with the first set of educational piano books (mastering the piano series published in 2014) flying off the shelves. The Lang Lang Piano Method consists of five volumes and is designed to take youngsters from the very beginning to around Grade 1 level (ABRSM exams).

Each brightly coloured publication features a cartoon character of Lang Lang, and takes beginners (the method is aimed at those between the ages of 5 – 10 years) on a journey of piano discovery.  Musicianship is developed through theory quizzes and games, as well as the chance to hear Lang Lang playing a range of piano repertoire. The books are accompanied by online audio tracks, including performances of the concert pieces by the popular piano star himself.

I’m delighted to have the first three books in this series to offer as a giveaway to three lucky readers. Please leave your comments in the comment box at the end of this blog post and I will select three winners on Sunday evening (British time). Good luck!

One of the world’s most famous pianists of all times. It is not less than admirable that he also takes part in educational programmes for very young pianists. Brilliant technique and popular interpretation, which always drives his audience.

  81. Sabine Vogt says:

Dear Melanie, I’m enjoying reading about the Lana Lang Music books. I’ve always been interested in learning and then – since I’m “a people’s Person” (as a friend told me) I don’t keep that knowlege to myself, i.e. I don’t mean gossiping, I actually mean knowledge that I’ve acquired. Knowledge is a treasure but practice is the key to it. That is the next point and time is always short but time needs to be there for what one feels is important. I’d like to tell the Russian Pianist of my Duisburg choir about the Lang Lang books. I also showed her your books and of course, she was very much interested in looking at new piano literature. Can you ever have enough books?

  82. Thank you for the opportunity. I appreciate it!

    Best,

    Andrija

  83. David Richard says:
