Winner’s Recital of the 6th Jaques Samuel Pianos Junior Department Piano Festival held at the Wigmore Hall

I was invited to the Winner’s Recital of the 6th Jaques Samuel Pianos Junior Department Piano Festival on December 9th 2012. It was a most enjoyable event held at the Wigmore Hall in London. Founded by Terry Lewis, who is Managing Director and Co-Owner of Jaques Samuel Pianos in London, it provides an opportunity to perform for young pianists attending one of the four music conservatoire junior departments. There were 20 performances given by pupils who attend the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance Junior Departments.

I filmed and interviewed many of those involved, so rather than describe the whole event, you can watch it all by clicking on the link below:

Melanie Spanswick has written and published a wide range of courses, anthologies, examination syllabuses, and text books, including Play it again: PIANO (published by Schott Music). This best-selling graded, progressive piano course contains a large selection of repertoire featuring a huge array of styles and genres, with copious practice tips and suggestions for every piece.
